Can you help me help my friend?

I have a dear sweet internet friend who is homebound.  She is a teenager with Juvenile Diabetes.  Her entire social life is online.  She's lonely.  She'd like a boyfriend.  I'm looking but I'm not finding an online community for homebound people with illness.  Anybody know of any?  She needs to socialize with people who understand what it's like to be homebound.  While she role plays online a lot and talks to a lot of people, they all lead relatively normal, healthy lives.  They can't understand how much she depends on her internet friendships and as a result she gets hurt a lot.

Know where she can go???

In Gratitude

For mulberries which are ripening fast on the tree in my yard.  I'm grateful that this tree survived our many attempts to kill it.  I'm grateful that it's female.  I'm grateful for its fruit.  No fruit is as delightful as the fruit you pick fresh off the vine or tree.  I'm grateful for the lemon-thyme hubby insisted on growing even though I couldn't imagine how we would use it only to discover how wonderful it is with my baked chicken.  Spring is here and for the first time I am appreciating it!

I'm grateful for the awesome self-hel audio books the library had and that I've been listening to.  I'm grateful for libraries!

I'm grateful for having today off of work, which is unusual for me, and for having the whole day to myself.

In Gratitude

For the most wonderful weekend with my family.  I got to watch my family run in a 10K marathon.  I got to take some fabulous photos of them!  I got to be a part of the race even though I wasn't in it.  I just love being with them.  I am so grateful.  I am grateful that my sister discovered The Secret and that she actually uses the gratitude rock that I gave her at Christmas.  I am grateful that she gets what I'm talking about and I am so grateful for the goddess she has grown into and that she is a part of my life!

I am grateful for

Malcom Gladwells' book Blink.  It helped me realize that no matter how broadminded and tolerant I like to think that I am, that I do have unconscious as well as conscious prejuidices.  However, the book offered some ways to overcome those prejudices so I am grateful.  This video offers a humorous and fascinating look at why we should embrace diversity.  I am grateful for Malcom Gladwell.

The Secret Revealed, The Transcript

I am profoundly grateful for Irshad Manji

If you want to hear more of what she has to say, go here:

I am grateful to be learning more about Islam than I ever would have understood before Irshad.  I compare this woman to Martin Luther King.  Although she is not the pacifist that he was, her message is changing the world and though she will probably not physically survive her chosen journey, the ripples she is creating will only spread further, wider, and more powerfully whether she manages to stay with us or not.  I intend, deeply and lovingly, for her survival.

In Gratitude

For the brainwave that hit me a few minutes ago.  It told me that I could use my eclipse glasses to look at the sun--don't know why it didn't ever occur to me that there didn't have to be an eclipse to use them.  It's very surreal and calming to go look at the sun through those glasses, it's a lot like looking at a full golden moon without the craters.  I am grateful.

The One Song

Did someone recently post the lyrics to a song called "One" or "The One Song" or something like that?  I've been looking for it and can't find it.  Thought one of my LJ friends posted it.
